Lavender Graduation Celebration

Lavender Graduation Celebration is a special graduation celebration that honors the achievements of graduating LGBTQA+ students and allied students on campus. If you are graduating from an undergraduate or graduate program in May, August, or December of this year, you can apply to participate in the ceremony. Our goal is to provide a time to recognize the success in our community.

Attend the event and bring your friends to help celebrate. All members of the UNL community, family, and friends are invited.

Application is closed

Each graduate receives:

  • Rainbow tassel to wear at undergraduate and graduate graduation
  • Lavender rope for graduates that gave significant contributions to the LGBTQA+ community on campus
  • Lavender Graduation Celebration certificate

Advocate Appreciation

Lavender Graduates are encouraged to complete the Advocate Appreciation section within their application to recognize up to 3 people. Advocates are UNL faculty and staff who were proactive in providing support and/or guidance to LGBTQA+ students, and who made a significant impact on their academic achievements. We invite each person to the reception and acknowledge their contribution with a certificate.

Nominations Closed

Recipients of the Drs. Crompton & Diaz-Perdomo Scholarship; the Fredrickson-Formanek Scholarship; and the Roland Leavitt and Shawn Leavitt Family Scholarship will be recognized during the annual spring celebration event, too.
